Several years ago I was invited to be the keynote speaker at the Working Women’s Workshop at the Eureka Casino in Mesquite NV. It was sponsored by a St George area magazine and quite a fun event! I learned many things including not to assume all the attendees had the same robust computer experience I’ve had! We had to pivot when I noticed from the podium so many lost faces when they were asked to log on to their laptops. Most had never taken their laptops from home or office and had no idea how to log in to a stragne location!
In the meantime, the casino had shut off all WiFi access in their hotel rooms so the over 100 working women could do so in our conference room. It had never been done there before so we were beta testing their new business system! It all turned out okay yet this is a clear example of being prepared and ready to pivot depending on your audience!
And this is where this photo was taken. It was better to come out from behind the podium to sit with each group to facilitate. You can see from their faces, they wanted to learn, which is very satifying to see!
